Detroit Hoist is Going GREEN

The next step to further advance the Detroit Hoist quality and provide our customers with the most cost efficient, advanced and maintenance free equipment is our recent decision to standardize on “Line Regen Modules” for our “Non-Load Brake” hoist with motors above 15KW.  These electronic units are used to convert potential energy that is stored within a hoisted load directly from the DC bus output of the VFD back into AC current and then back into the power supply of the hoist.  Such a system eliminates the need for resistors and regenerates much of the energy required for hoisting.  The energy savings can be easily calculated: $/Year = KW x Duty Cycle x Days/Year x Hours/Day x $/KWh.

Example:      20KW Motor, 50% Duty Cycle, 260 Days,

                   8 Hours/Day,$ 0.08/KWh

 

                   20 x 0.5 x 260 x 8 x 0.08 = $ 1,664 (Annual Savings)

The Detroit “Line Regen System” can return more than 70% of the energy required to operate our equipment without the need for any additional controls outside our hoist controls.  One unit can be connected to several VFD’s at the same time and return energy not only from the hoist but also from the trolley and bridge.
